The Masters of the Hemisphere on MTV

MTV has created a campaign titled think MTV, designed to educate and motivate their audience to take action on domestic and global issues facing the world today. Since the campaign started in May 2005, MTV has run several public service announcements (PSA) on topics such as sexual health, discrimination, education, and the environment.

On Thursday, August 31, 2006 during the Video Music Awards MTV ran an environmentally correct PSA following Al Gore's short presentation on global warning. The think MTV PSA featured the Masters of the Hemisphere song, Local Government, from their third full length album titled, Protest a Dark Anniversary.

Note From Sean:

Unfortunately, or fortunately, the Masters are not playing any other shows besides the ones already listed. We are not getting back together, and are only playing these shows because it's their good friends' bachelor and 30th birthday parties. It will be a good time for certain.

Plus, we don't have any copies of any seven inches or compilations or what have you. In fact, the members themselves don't even have a copy of all of that stuff. But, Darren has been kind enough to put up all that stuff on mp3 on this site, so you can at least download all that shit. Do you have an ipod, or at least a computer? I hope so.

Don't worry though. the masters dudes are all involved in new projects. adrian is starting a band with his siblings and also plays a lot of video games. jeff is in too many bands for his own good, including Je Suis France, Murder Beach, REN, Shitaake Knights, and god knows what else. bren's longtime project Vetran has resurfaced and will release an album at some point hopefully soon. I'm also in Je Suis France and I've got a band in San Francisco called Still Flyin' who will releasing an ep in the spring.
